Data the app accesses
TillClose reads Shopify Admin API data and does not create, change, or delete orders, payments, inventory, or cash-tracking records.
- Order, refund, and transaction records — record identifiers and timestamps; sales, tax, discount, refund, and tender amounts; and transaction kind, status, and gateway. TillClose uses these records to calculate aggregates for the selected location and business day.
- Cash-tracking sessions — register names; opening and closing times and notes; opening, expected, and counted balances; cash sales and refunds; over or short; and adjustment identifiers, notes, times, and amounts recorded by Shopify POS Pro.
- Locations and store metadata — locations, timezone, currency, and development-store status needed to build and format a closeout.
Data the app stores
- The shop's myshopify domain and Shopify-issued session.
- Privacy-minimal product events: feature used, event time and UTC usage day, selected business date, app surface, and one yes/no qualification flag indicating whether a report contained any orders, refunds, or a drawer session.
- When TillClose Live is deliberately enabled: cash-session open and close times, refund or discount presence, and closeout-preparation status. Location and cash-session references are one-way hashes.
Reports and PDF bytes are computed from live Shopify data and are not retained. Product events contain no report amounts, individual orders, customers, raw locations, location names, staff identifiers, or payment details.
Shopify App Store listing analytics
This section applies only to the public TillClose listing hosted by the Shopify App Store. Google Analytics is not embedded inside the TillClose app or on a merchant's storefront.
When listing measurement is enabled, Shopify can send listing-funnel events to a Google Analytics 4 property controlled by Ellefsen Marketing. Those events can include:
- listing views and selections of the Install or Open app buttons;
- visits attributed to a Shopify App Store advertisement, including the app identifier and the referring App Store surface;
- attribution context from the listing URL, such as locale, the App Store surface or search query, and listing position; and
- when full-funnel measurement is enabled, a completed-install event containing the app identifier and the installing Shopify shop's ID, name, and myshopify URL.
Google can also receive standard web-measurement information from the listing page, such as the page URL, browser and device information, session or cookie identifiers, IP address, and approximate location. Shopify hosts the listing page and controls its implementation.
We use this information only to measure listing discovery, installation intent, completed installs, and Shopify App Store advertising performance, and to improve our listings and acquisition decisions. We do not sell it, use it for personalized or cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it to change a merchant's price, app eligibility, or product results. We do not register shop ID, shop name, or shop URL as reporting dimensions or use them to build merchant profiles.
Providers, retention, transfers, and choices
Shopify supplies the App Store page and sends the events. Google LLC provides Analytics processing and reporting. These providers can process information outside your country, including in the United States, subject to the safeguards described in their privacy materials.
We configure Google Analytics user-level and event-level retention to two months and disable resetting that period when a user returns. Standard aggregated reports can remain available for longer, and we may keep non-identifying campaign summaries for business records.
You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or object to processing of personal data associated with you. For an install-related request, include the app name and your myshopify domain so we can evaluate and, where reasonably possible, act on the request. Listing-view information is normally pseudonymous; if we cannot reasonably connect it to you, we will explain that limitation. You can also use browser cookie controls or the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Sharing and service providers
We do not sell personal data or disclose it for personalized or cross-context behavioral advertising. TillClose data is processed on Vercel and stored in a Postgres database provided by Neon solely to operate the service. Separately, Shopify can send the App Store listing analytics described above to Google. Apart from Shopify's completed-install identifiers, TillClose order aggregates, cash tracking data, locations, reports or PDFs, product events, TillClose Live signals, and API sessions are not sent to Google.
Deletion
Uninstalling TillClose invalidates Shopify access and triggers deletion of stored product events, TillClose Live signals, and the session. Shopify's later shop-redaction webhook removes any remaining shop record. The required customer-data request and redaction webhooks are implemented; TillClose stores no customer data to return. You can contact us to request earlier deletion. Listing-analytics data follows the retention and request process described above.
Contact and privacy requests
Questions, access requests, objections, or deletion requests can be sent to ellefsenmarketing+tillclose@gmail.com. We may need to verify that a request relates to the requesting shop before acting on it.
